Written to the editor of Look Magazine, Hart says: "Of course I am delighted with your request to come out and look me over as a story possibility. I am busy, busy as hell, but we can find time to talk easy enough after four o'clock and it will not bother me to have you sit in on the studio sessions." He goes on to say: "I made what I think a good portrait of old Carl Sandburg ... a few years ago ... though he was a most figitty model ..."
